While many players look at each new character in Genshin Impact regarding combat prowess or design, one of the most critical aspects often overlooked is the Exploration Skills that make the game so much easier. For players that are unaware, each character comes with an out-of-combat passive ability that changes how you interact with the world of Teyvat. These small quality-of-life improvements, although small, can make life in Genshin so much easier. At times, having these buffs feels almost necessary to play the game. From crafting buffs to movement improvements, here are some of the best characters and Utility Passives to make Genshin easier.

Neuvillette

Neuvillette makes swimming through Fontaine easy.

In the new Fontaine region, players can now swim underwater. While underwater travel is generally streamlined and fast, sometimes swimming through long stretches can be slow. Luckily, characters like Neuvillette have a Utility Passive that allows players to swim through waters at an increased speed. This small buff makes navigating Fontaine all the better.

Tighnari

Tighnari is a great scout for resources in Genshin.

One of the most frustrating regions to harvest Character Ascension Material in would have to be Sumeru. Finding scarabs hidden in the desert and mushrooms in hard-to-reach locations is a painful experience for some. To make this easier, finding a Genshin Impact character with a passive that can detect these resources, like Tighnari, is a great way to save some time.

Gorou

Gorou can find resources throughout Genshin.

Similar to Sumeru, finding some resources in Genshin Impact’s Inazuma region is arguably more difficult than the Sumeru region. Finding the Onikabuto that like to camouflage themselves on trees is one of the hardest resources I have ever had to grind. Having a character like Gorou, however, will make this far easier, pointing right on your map where the beetles are hiding.

Amber

Amber is perfect for gliding.

Gliding is one of the most used movement options in all of Genshin Impact, easily letting players soar across the landscape of Teyvat. Despite this, even with a max Stamina upgrade, players can only glide for so long before they must land. To increase the glide time, some characters, like Amber, reduce the Stamina used while gliding.

Kaeya

Kaeya is a must-have addition for long-distance travel in Genshin.

Not all time in Genshin Impact can be spent gliding through the air. Eventually, players will need to land and start their long journey walking the countryside. Luckily, plenty of characters can reduce Stamina cost from sprinting, reducing travel time. A great Genshin Impact character to choose for this passive is Kaeya, as everyone has him from the game’s tutorial.

Beidou

Beidou makes swimming easier.

While Neuvillette may increase the underwater swim speed of your character, having a character that reduces swimming stamina is a strong option as well. Swimming in normal, non-Fontaine water can be difficult, leading to many players sinking to the bottom of a relatively small lake. The swimming stamina buff from characters like Beidou will make swimming across bodies of water a safer experience.

Freminet

Freminet is a great character for swimming in Genshin.

Finishing off the stamina reduction Utility Passives, we have one that decreases the amount of Aquatic Stamina used while swimming underwater in Fontaine. Though less universally applicable than the other movement options, this passive still has a big impact in helping players get around Fontaine. Freminet is the only character who gives this ability so far, making him the de facto best choice.

Baizhu

Baizhu will give a little extra healing.

Next, Baizhu has a relatively unique Utility Passive among Genshin Impact characters. This passive Herbal Nourishment will heal the active character for 2.5% of Baizhu’s Max HP after harvesting certain resources. While this may seem small, this will save players a trip to the Statue of the Goddess occasionally.

Sucrose

Sucrose makes alchemy in Genshin much easier.

When grinding resources, it can be frustrating to see how few materials players get out of their daily efforts. A great option to make the most out of your time grinding comes in the form of Utility Passives that can preserve materials or potentially double your product output. Sucrose is the best example of this, as it is easy to obtain and provides a 10% chance to obtain double the product of a Character and Weapon Enhancement Materials.

Fischl

Fishcl is a great example of an Expedition character in Genshin.

One often overlooked aspect of daily grinding in Genshin Impact is daily expeditions. By sending characters out on expeditions, players can get a few rewards they can passively grind. Though they generally take a long period to finish these expeditions, luckily, some utility passives can speed up the process. With so many different characters, it’s hard to pick just one, though Fischl is a choice most players should have.
