The film, based on the true story that inspired the classic book, Moby Dick, was released in 3,103 theaters and reportedly cost $100 million to produce. It averaged $3,547 per theater, and its worldwide total is $50 million, but it looks like it will struggle to make back its production budget with the impending release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
