Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is a triumph for the game and a fulfillment of promises made by CD Projekt Red when it was first released. The best part of the DLC is the embracing of several kinds of gameplay and, in particular, stealth gameplay. The new improvements made through Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 are incredible, and the DLC emphasizes them in a huge way. For those who like to take the stealthy route, here are 5 Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty improvements stealth players will love.

5. The Story

While the original story was a wild ride, emphasizing mercenary work and relatively loud spectacles of violence, the story of Phantom Liberty is one of espionage and double-crossing spies. No matter where you turn in the story, it’s impossible to know who to trust, and it’s encapsulated best by the star of the DLC, Solomon Reed. This is basically Idris Elba’s take on James Bond, and it is phenomenal. The futuristic spy is all alone, knowing what it’s like to need to hide from all sides at all times. It’s a gritty and stealth-based approach and fits right in with the Cyberpunk 2077 style.

4. Improved Stealth Abilities

Cyberpunk 2077 is now a stealth game if you want it to be.

The abilities in the original Cyberpunk 2077 were a bit lackluster when it came to stealth players. You could use silencers, cause some noise to distract enemies, and use cyberware, but movement-wise, you were somewhat limited. Now, you get the ability to crouch while sprinting, which makes moving around undetected so much more effective. In addition, you no longer need to unlock certain perks to get new abilities. One of the most useful examples of this is Death From Above, which allows you to take out an enemy while perched above them. Previously, you would have to level up to unlock it, but now, it’s an innate ability and a perfect tool to add to your stealth arsenal.

3. Instant Fail Stealth Missions

Although they are somewhat of a game convention of the past, failing missions by getting caught works perfectly with the tone that Phantom Liberty is going for. While the majority of missions can be completed guns blazing, there are a certain few that will require the utmost care in not getting caught. One of these sequences happens in the very end of the DLC so we won’t be spoiling anything for you in this regard. Just know that there are sections that require you to pull out your best Metal Gear Solid tactics to get through them.

2. Legitimate Reasons For Stealth

Cyberpunk 2077 stealth missions are a great time.

Your mission in Phantom Liberty is a sensitive one, and there are several missions that are infiltration-based missions, where getting in without a trace is a key factor. Even if you unleash weapons during the missions, they’re usually under the guise of leaving no evidence behind, like from afar as a sniper, for example. You can go in and kill everyone in sight, but it’s pretty much spitting in the face of Songbird and Reed, and you don’t want to disappoint some of the best characters in the game, do you?

1. Relic Additions

If the above things don’t convince you that Phantom Liberty deserves some stealthy approaches, then the Relic additions will. This awesome addition to the game gives you tons of new abilities to play around with, but none are better than the stealth Relic abilities. Here, you have emergency cloaking, which requires Optical Camo to work and makes enemies completely lose sight of you in the process. You also have Sensory Protocol, which slows time when you are detected a la Metal Gear Solid V. Vulnerability Analytics is technically on the combat side of things but comes in handy as a stealth player. It lets you expose the enemy’s weak spots, giving you a 100% chance of a critical attack, which can end encounters incredibly quickly and keep you from being detected as well.
