Mortal Kombat has always kept a theme of mystery at its core. It can be the hidden chests in the Konquest or the easter eggs in the Krypts. However, some Mortal Kombat games feature secret fights that are so hard to find even if you have the script of what you need to do to spawn them. This trend started almost 4 decades ago with the very first Mortal Kombat game, and Ed Boon is still instructing the Elder Gods to send more for us. Here are the 5 hardest secret fights in Mortal Kombat games based on how many controllers you have to break to find and beat their challenges.
5. Reptile – MK1

Reptile was the very first innovative addition as a secret character in the Mortal Kombat games that’d show up in the middle of the match to spit some nonsense on the screen. I mean, TIP EHT FO MOTTOB and Look To La Luna? There was no internet back then to search these and decipher the clues.
You must be on the Pit map, a shadowy figure must pass the moon, you need to finish off your opponent with 2 Flawless Victories, and perform a finisher. Oh, and you can’t even block if you want to complete the challenge. If all of these happen in a single match, Reptile would show up, who’s a mix of a Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Now it wasn’t that hard to beat the new green Mortal Kombat ninja, but it was a nerve test to reach the secret fight for sure.
4. Smoke – MK2

Finding Smoke is easier than the Reptile. You’ll have to be at the Portal stage, uppercut the opponent until the “Toasty” message appears, and then press and hold the Start + Down buttons to summon Smoke. This new ninja is a reskinned Scorpion. However, he’s way more powerful than the Shirai Ryu master.
Once a secret fight is triggered in Mortal Kombat games, the difficulty mode switches up to the highest in every scenario. Now the problem is that the secret fighters in MK2 are buffed versions of the the normal kombatants in the game, and well, they don’t randomly react to your move, they just know what you’re doing. As soon as you press the button, the CPU blocks and counters. That’s why MK2 isn’t a favorite among fans.
3. Jade – MK2

Jade is a unique and, of course, hard secret fight in Mortal Kombat 2 that references Chun Li from the Street Fighter series for some reason. The character shows up randomly in the game, giving players some clues on how to find her. However, figuring out hints like “Before The” and “Chun Who?” without the internet’s assistance is like teaching math to a 3-year-old.
You must beat the opponent before the question mark stage on any ladder with leg sweeps only. Imagine you’ve passed the test and met with Jade, beating the CPU enemies on the hardest difficulty in MK2 is a nightmare. They move faster and react based on the buttons you press before you execute the move, which is like straight-up cheating. The only way I could defeat Jade was with spamming moves like leg sweeps and jump kicks and that’s because of the CPU glitches I guess.
2. Chameleon/Khameleon – MK3

The Chameleon is a mix of all MK ninjas in the PlayStation version of the MK3, appearing as an unlockable character with secret codes. Playing against Chameleon is hard, but he’s not so OP compared to his female counterpart of the N64 MK3, Khameleon.
On the Star Bridge stage, get a Toasty, press down, and Start summoning Khameleon. This version of the character is a combination of Jade, Kitana, and Mileena with super buffed movement speed and godlike combos. In most cases, Khameleon doesn’t even allow the players to have an attack window, hence why she’s one of the hardest secret fights to beat in all Mortal Kombat games.
1. Floyd – Mortal Kombat 1

If you had to do three things to find the previous secret fighters in Mortal Kombat games, there’s a long list of 37 things to do if you want to challenge Floyd in MK1! Of course, you’re not tasked with doing all 37, but at least 10 of these are needed to call the Pink Ninja into action.
On a very beautiful scenery that’s like the Tekken stages, you’ll be fighting a ninja that has the power of all of the other MK ninjas like Scorpion, Smoke, Rain, and Sub-Zero. The pink fighter moves fast, executes combos that can end the battle in a blink, and, well, you need to defeat this powerhouse combatant for two rounds!
