This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

They say the small details matter, and Insomniac Games takes this saying to heart with its latest game. We all know that most of Sony’s first-party titles are leaders regarding small details that breathe life into these digital worlds. The sequel to Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales threw the house out of the window with some details that will wow more than one player. If you want to know more about these little additions to the game, here’s our list of 6 tiny, amazing details in Spider-Man 2.

Spider-Man 2: 6 Tiny Details that Breathe Life into New York and Beyond

Most details we’ll list are not game-changers but are still great. This shows the care the developers put into making the game feel different in all situations. From combat to exploration, the Spider-Pals always surprises us with these things. So, without further ado, let’s get this list going.

Damaged Suit

Be it in movies or games, we’ve all seen how all Spider-Suits get damaged after a fight. It’s normal, though. Anyone fighting a group of goons or someone in a gigantic Rhino suit is bound to make some dents in our heroes’ outfits. Insomniac Games went up and beyond and added damage to every suit in the game. The more HP you lose, the more damage will reflect in your outfit.

Switcheroo Animations

With two Spideys in the neighborhood and each one getting its missions, people will switch between them constantly. To make things more fun, the developers added different animations or situations that reflect when selecting a different Spider-Man. You might see Peter making a hammock with his webs or poor Miles getting mugged by a pigeon.

Environmental Finishers

Finishers in all Spider-Man games are fantastic. They are flashy, acrobatic, and all pack a punch. The feeling of taking down the annoying brute with the push of two buttons doesn’t compare to anything else in the game. However, Insomniac Games included a few secret finishers that activate in certain environments. If you defeat an enemy near a wall, you can see a different animation than the normal punch to the face. This was shown in the first gameplay trailer. The same happens if you defeat an enemy near a car. Spider-Man might use the car to push himself toward the enemy and give them a roundhouse kick.

Spider-Surfing

With more districts in the game, our Spider-Duo will travel from one to another, and while swinging next to the bridge is fun, others will like to glide. If you lose momentum and can’t get high up in the air, Spider-Man will surf on the water for a while before swimming. This is a nice detail but also useful when traversing the city, as it lets you jump to, hopefully, start swinging or gliding again.

Spider-Man vs New York

We’ve seen that being Spider-Man in any media takes its toll. Not only to the hero but to the city, too. In this game, citizens react more to Spider-Man, especially when he lands next to them. Given the force our duo has when swinging, people fall down due to that. This is a fun detail that makes us see that even if we’re defending the neighborhood, our actions affect those living in the city.

Falling Tricks

Air tricks aren’t something new in Spider-Man games, and they are a fun way to get a few experience points and look cool while swinging. This time, though, Insomniac Games added some tiny details to Spider-Man 2 whenever each Spidey falls. If you press L3, move it to any direction, and then hold square, you’ll see Peter and Miles do different things. The former solves a Rubik’s cube while falling, while the latter does some cool moves like resting his arms on the back of his head. Both really bring that style even when they aren’t swinging.
