So, you’ve decided to heed the assassin’s call. Before you buy and start playing Assassin’s Creed Mirage, there are a few things you should know. Like most games in the franchise, Mirage is as good for newcomers jumping into the AC world as it is for veterans who love the series. Even so, there are some useful tips that can further your preparation and enjoyment of this stunning world.

1. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is Filled With Nostalgia

For those familiar with the AC franchise, the nostalgia found in Mirage may dredge up some excitement. There’s no denying that fans have been split on previous games as they ventured deep into RPG territory and less into what the game started out as. However, one of the best things you should know before playing Assassin’s Creed Mirage is that it’s love a letter to the OG games.

You can take up quality assassin contracts if you’d like, making optional side missions feel just as intense as the main ones. There’s even the classic pickpocketing trait from earlier games. However, not everyone may enjoy the minigame, but you can turn it off and make the action automatic instead.

2. Playing With A Familiar Face in Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Before you buy Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you will note that our protagonist is not a new face in the franchise. Basim features first in Valhalla, just not as the main playable character.

If you want to learn more about him before playing Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you can always check out the previous game. Once you check out both games, you’ll discover just how different Basim is in the prequel tale compared to who you meet in Valhalla.

3. Gameplay Old and New in Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Mirage features new gameplay, but it’s clear Ubisoft attempts to bring back classic mechanics that made people fall in love with the franchise. For starters, social stealth is back. Valhalla featured a version of it, but it didn’t feel quite right like it did when walking around with Altair or Eizo. Mirage intends to bring that feeling back. Plus, you can hide in rooftop gardens again, making for a quick escape if need be.

Before you dive into playing Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you should also know that some of the original parkour moves return. It’s a nice way to pay homage to the earlier games, but at the same time, there’s a chance the parkour might not feel as seamless. So, if you spend more time hugging the wall than jumping, perhaps patience will be key. But the hidden blades make for an insta-kill again, which is always pleasing as an assassin.

There are new gameplay elements too. Multi-takedown is a new element that lets Basim handle multiple opponents instead of killing one and being thrust into a battle with several others. If you’re used to games like Batman: Arkham, it’s a familiar element. Otherwise, it’s a new combat method you may have to adapt to.

4. Always Remember Your Throwing Knives

Your throwing knives are vital in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, so before you buy the game, don’t forget to use them. A throwing knife has various purposes. Of course, it can help in terms of killing or injuring. However, they can also help get you out of tough situations. Use throwing knives to open a prompt escape, breaking bolts or other breakable items in the way.

5. Don’t Forget Your Bird in Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Your eagle Enkidu will always come in handy while playing Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Use him to tag enemies, loot like chests, and get an overall lay of the land. He’s perfect for those stealthy approaches, ensuring you have a clear path to wherever you need to go.

6. Assassin’s Creed is Short and Contained

Finally, Mirage is nowhere near as bloated as previous games. It’s contained to Baghdad with a map remarkably smaller compared to the various islands and locations in Odyssey and Valhalla. So, if you enjoy more compact areas, then you’ll appreciate the design in Mirage. The playtime isn’t as long either, with reports that you can easily finish the game in less than 24 hours.
