Lords of the Fallen 2 has been conformed to be in the works and will release in 2017, one downside to this news it that original co developers of the first game Deck 17 won’t be involved in this game.
In an interview with Eurogamerย CI Games boss Marek Tyminski told Robert Purchese that sales of Lords of the Fallen 1 had passed 900,000.
“We are over 900,000 units. Not yet 1million but we are approaching that. And definitely it’s a good start for the new IP. Definitely we can say that Lords of the Fallen 1 proved the IP made sense.”
Crushing sales figures.
he later goes on to say about starting the project with out Deck 13.
“We are not working with Deck 13 right now,”
“We are starting the project, we start from the concepting, but we definitely will be working with a lot of partners.”
When pushed for more details on the the parting of ways with Deck 13 Marek Tyminski replied
“To be honest it’s confidential,”
“We have spoken about certain things we could probably do after the release of Lords of the Fallen but at the end of the day we came to the conclusion, both sides, that it won’t happen, and as far as I know they have another project, and I wish them luck. We have very clear thinking on how we want to make Lords of the Fallen 2 and we have a very good idea.
“We’re taking all of the lessons from Lords of the Fallen 1 to make, first of all, a much better game, and second, to make it more efficient from the production perspective.
“We plan to release the game in 2017,”
“We learnt not to say about the release date too early, so we will only be announcing the release date of each particular game when we will be close enough and we will be sure the game will be on time.”
CI Games will be taking the helm this time around.
My personal experience with the game is a familiar tale of despair and misfortune, a lot like that of Dark Souls which Lords of the Fallen shows heavy influence from, I was at EGX the booth was free and I thought I’d jump right in, safe to say I died, a lot.
Thats when I knew this game was not for me.
Lords of the Fallen received a mixed bag of some positive reviews and the majority coming in the ‘mixed’ section earning it an average Metacritic of 68/100/ scores aside though it seems to be selling well enough to warrant a sequel.
