The Cowboy Bebop live-action adaptation is on its way – and Netflix wants to remind you in style.

A recently released teaser gave fans a peek at the show’s main cast, including the dog Ein.

This infamous cyber-dog is the good friend of the quirky kid genius Sid in the anime. Check out his appearance as well as the rest of the cast in the teaser below:

Cowboy Bebop | Behind the Scenes | Netflix

So far, this behind-the-scenes teaser is the only footage we’ve received from the show. All that is known is that it’s based on the hit 1997 26-episode anime following the exploits of a ragtag band of space bounty hunters (or ‘cowboys’ as they’re referred to in this universe).

The first season will run for 10 episodes and is jointly produced by Netflix and Tomorrow Studios, who have worked on the Snowpiercer TV series and are also due to create a One-Piece live-action adaptation. The anime’s creator Shinichiro Watanabe will serve as a consultant on the series.

The Cowboy Bebop cast announced thus far are John Cho, Mustafar Shakir, Daniella Pineda, and Alex Hassell as Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine and Vicious. Additionally, Elena Satine will play Spike’s love interest, Julia.

Christopher Yost, who has written screenplays for Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok, is writing the series. Given that he has also acted as head writer for the Avengers cartoon and has scribed several X-Men comic books, he seems a perfect choice for penning something so fantastical.

Cowboy Bebop often tops the lists of ‘best anime’ for fans of the genre. Previously, Netflix adapted another much-loved anime – Death Note – in 2017, but it didn’t please many of the anime’s super-fans and critics derided it. Despite that, the movie was deemed a “sizable success” by Netflix and a sequel is currently in the works.

Did the Cowboy Bebop behind-the-scenes teaser pump you up for the Netflix adaptation? Or do you fear it will be another Death Note? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
