Famed publishers 3D Realms are returning to the scene with a new dark horror fantasy release. WRATH: Aeon of Ruin early access releases today, and it looks chilling.

3D Realms was founded over 30 years ago and is responsible for such franchises as Duke Nukem, Wolfenstein 3D, and Prey. That said, you can be sure that these guys know what they’re doing when it comes to shooters.

This release in the beautifully unique genre of horror fantasy FPS is in early access. WRATH runs on the legendary Quake engine and draws inspiration from acclaimed 90s shooters. Titles such as Doom and Quake are paid homage in both the visual and gameplay design. As a result, it’s sure to blend nostalgia with progress, fueling brand-new excitement.

Aeon of Ruin features a monster-filled adventure through the depths of a desolated land. As they traverse the ruins of the Old World, players will be faced with all manner of monstrosities and horrors. However, there are plenty of ways to deal with that! Players can dish out death with weapons both traditional and unique, organic and inorganic. As you hunt down those responsible for this world’s devastation, you’ll have plenty of options when it comes to carving your path.

Early access for Aeon of Ruin features the first of three non-linear hubs and two full levels. Surely a small but accurate microcosm of the horror that awaits within the upcoming full version. This early access package will, in total, offer a 10% discount on the Ion Fury Steam bundle. If you’re not a PC player, the current generation of consoles will be receiving this same bundle in 2020.

Regardless of which platform you choose, WRATH: Aeon of Ruin is sure to be a thrilling and chilling experience. Stay tuned for more news on 3D Realms’ newest creations!

I'm an aspiring journalist and creative writer with a passion for the nerdy. If I'm not writing for work, I'm either writing creatively, gaming or attempting to make something that in some way resembles music. I currently study at Ashford University online, majoring in journalism and minoring in creative writing. I hope to one day work as a narrative writer for major game developers, a professional podcaster/interviewer, a graphic novelist and a producer of wildlife documentaries. One step at a time!
