Those super forย Nioh 2’sย upcoming release are in for a bit of a treat. Announced earlier today on PlayStation Blog, Team Ninja’s much-awaited sequel is set to get a limited-time demo calledย Nioh 2 Last Chance Trial.ย The demo is set to start on Friday, February 28, 2020, at 12:00 am PT and will run through Sunday, March 1, 2020, at 11:59 pm PT. PlayStation Plus will not be required to access the demo.
The demo consists of three trials that encourage players to “venture out Mount Tenno and face the deadly creatures waiting there with a variety of deadly weapons.” Nioh 2’s demo will work to show off the new elements of the game, like character customization and summoning Yokai in battle. The blog post states,
“Although your game progress may not transfer to the full game later, your created characterโs appearance does! So pour as much time into crafting your samurai as you wish.”
The blog post goes on to discuss Yokai in more detail, “These spirits are much more than eye-catching set dressing โ theyโre intrinsically woven into combat. Bosses may summon raging boars or fiery wolves to cut you down mid-battle. Unlike the previous game, players can summon their own Yokai to perform powerful attacks, like a brutish ogre that clobbers foes with a huge club.”
Further differences in Nioh 2 include a strong focus on ki management (basically stamina), a “ki-sapping” Dark Realm, which takes battles to a whole new level, and some details on new weapons and stances. One new weapon is a grizzly scythe “Switchglaive โ a wicked, scythe-like weapon that shifts forms on the fly.” Needless to say, there is a ton to explore in this new demo.
Nioh 2ย is set to release on March 13, 2020, exclusively on PlayStation 4.
