In light of the currently ongoing worldwide Coronavirus crisis, it comes as absolutely no surprise that Warner Bros. has delayed the release of Wonder Woman 1984. Already we have seen a whole host of movies, TV shows, and games postponed due to the pandemic. That’s not to mention the huge list of events being canceled left, right and center.

Obviously, this is all for good reason as people’s health and wellbeing are much more important than the latest big release. These things can wait while the world tries to get a handle on the situation.

That said, as The Nerd Stash is your one-stop-shop for all things nerdy, we’re here to bring you the nerdy news as it happens and hopefully bring a smile to your face as we do so.

A number of movies have recently released early on digital platforms, and there were rumors that Wonder Woman 1984 would follow suit; however, this is not the case. At present, Warner Bros. still plans to release Wonder Woman into theatres with a slightly later release date of August 14.

Whether theatres will be back open by then is another question entirely, but WB is keen for fans to see the latest adventure of Princess Diana on the big screen.

Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group Chairman, Toby Emmerich had this to say in a statement made earlier today:

“When we greenlit WW 1984 it was with every intention to be viewed on the big screen and are excited to announce that Warner Bros. Pictures will be bringing the film to theatres on August 14th. We hope the world will be in a safer and healthier place by then”

Let’s hope he’s right, and this will all have blown over by then. Not so much for the movie but for the benefit of us all.

I won’t ask your thoughts on the delay as it is completely expected and understandable, but do let us know in the comments how excited you are to see the Wonder Woman sequel, and if you’re going crazy in self-isolation we’re usually available on Twitter for a chat should you need it.
