Sea of Thieves gets a significant update every month, bringing new and exciting things to the game. While most have been content-focused, Rare is switching things up this month. Today they unveiled the Lost Treasures update, and it has a focus on quality-of-life changes and bug fixes. It might not sound flashy, but it’s an update that players are going to love. For those wanting more from the game, there are still a few new things to look forward to. To go with the update, the Sea of Thieves team released a new video showcasing everything you can expect when you log in today.

Lost Treasures’ biggest introduction by far is the new Tall Tale checkpoints. Sometimes you find yourself in the middle of a Tall Tale when either your ship gets attacked, or you have work at 6 AM the next morning. Now, all Tall Tales have chapters that act as save points. You can now come back at any time to continue at the nearest Chapter you left off. As someone who’s lost my ship numerous times during Tall Tales, this is a very welcome change for Sea of Thieves.

Other than that, there are now several different timed events for you to complete on the Sea of Thieves. These give you different things to do and change how you play the game at certain times. For example, each day you have a bounty you can complete for special rewards. Otherwise, there’s Gold Rush Hours, Fort Nights, and special timed events for you to do. Gold Rush Hours will have your loot sold to the Gold Hoarder during those hours to be worth much more. Fort Nights, on the other hand, will improve rewards from loot at skull forts for that specific night.

That’s not all though, as there’s also a myriad of QoL changes and bug fixes. We’ll let you read those yourself, but we do want to mention a few things. Water barrel bug fixes, for one, improves the water barrel to much more easily grab water out of it. There’s also hit registration fixes, allowing you to land more of those sweet long-distance snipes. Overall, Lost Treasures does improve the quality of Sea of Thieves immensely even if the content is lacking. This will help when the game comes to Steam next week. We hope you get out on the seas today and enjoy the more refined experience. Anything, in particular, you’re happy to see? What would you want a focus on in the next update? Let us know, and stay tuned here at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
