If there’s one thing you can argue makes Dishonored stand out from its competitors, it’s the supernatural abilities. Nothing beats teleporting to your target only to pull them into a quick sword swing or bolt to the face. When Dishonored’s developer Arkane Studios announced Deathloop, I was excited because of how much I enjoyed that series. What I wasn’t expecting though was to see those abilities return. At the Deathloop portion of today’s PS5 event, the team showed off not only the gunplay but also some very familiar abilities.

Deathloop’s trailer focuses some on the story, involving a man stuck in a time-loop who must take down eight prime targets before the night ends. There’s little chance for survival, but he does have a few tricks up his sleeve. He can use different supernatural abilities to control the battlefield and give his opponents a little surprise. He could throw his opponents around and teleport near them to chain sweet, sweet kills. Watch out though, as one death with restart the whole loop over again. Will the man be able to take them down, or will his opponents and the town’s protector hunt him down first?

Deathloop will hold timed console exclusivity to the PlayStation 5, but it will be available on PC as well. Hopefully, players and fans of Arkane are excited for this game as it looks great. It’s almost reminiscent of Dishonored, only with modern guns and an atmosphere like We Happy Few. They also have a good track record with the Dishonored series and Prey 2017, so I have no doubts they’ll get this one right. I hope to see you out there slaying your targets when the game releases later this year.
