After releasing the preview build a few months back, Microsoft has officially released its office suite application for Mac OS.
Mac Office 2016 is available in 139 countries with 16 language support, and it is the successor to the 2011 version of the software released five years back.
This upgrade is not only bringing back widely used Office softwares such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint, but several new features were introduced, such as Retina Display support, interface Ribbon, multi-touch gesture, full screen mode, and cloud integration.
Microsoft had this to say on Office 2016 for Mac on their blog:
Office for Mac is cloud-connected, so you can quickly get to the documents youโve recently used on other devices and pick up where you left off. New, built-in document sharing tools make it easy to invite teammates to work on a document together.ย When sharing documents, you wonโt have to worry about losing content or formatting, as Office for Mac offers unparalleled compatibility with Office on PCs, tablets, phones and online.”
Microsoft announced that this software is available now for all variants ofย Office 365 subscribers, such as Office 365 Home, Personal, Business, Business Premium, E3 and ProPlus. By September, Office 2016 can be purchased without Office 365 subscription.
Microsoft Office 2016 preview program was launched in March, and it generated over 100.000 users feedbacks. Based on the reports, Microsoftย released seven updates in four months with significant improvements in performance and stability.
Microsoft will continue to provide ongoing support for the software by releasing updates and improvements at least once per quarter.
