Nintendo released a digital showcase covering upcoming second and third-party developed Switch titles on July 20th. Due to the impact of COVID-19, Nintendo tempered fan expectations by calling it a partner showcase. This is the first direct since the two released in March, one of which was for indie titles and one which was also a mini. You can check out the full video below as well as breakdowns for each game.

Cadence of Hyrule DLC

Nintendo - Cadence of Hyrule

Recently, Nintendo has shown a willingness to let other developers work on their IPs. In 2019, Brace Yourself Games released Cadence of Hyrule. The indie title blended the rhythm-based gameplay of Crypt of the NecroDancer with the characters and world of The Legend of Zelda.

The showcase gave an overview of 3 upcoming DLC packs for the game. The first DLC pack is available now and brings 5 new characters. Players will be able to play as Impa, Aria, Shadow Link, Shadow Zelda, and Frederick. The other two DLC packs will be available in October. The 2nd will add 39 new songs. The 3rd will add new story content following the Skull Kid from Majora’s Mask. Each pack is $5.99 while the season pass is $14.99. A version of the game with all content will be available on October 23rd.

Nintendo - Rogue Company

Rogue Company

Rogue Company is an online third-person shooter from developer First Watch Games and publisher Hi-Rez Studios. Many of the game’s characters, called Rogues, have already been showcased. The footage in the Nintendo event briefly showed off a new Rogue named Gl1tch. We also got to see a bit more PvP gameplay as well as a mode that lets your team go up against bots.

While Rogue Company only has a vague 2020 release window, Nintendo stated you can find more information out later today via the game’s Twitter account. It will offer crossplay and cross-progression.

Nintendo - WWE 2K Battlegrounds

WWE 2K Battlegrounds

Following the incredibly buggy mess that was WWE 2K20, the next installment was canceled. Fortunately for wrestling fans, 2K also announced Battlegrounds, a more cartoonish wrestling game. Nintendo showed off 4v4 gameplay today with wrestlers like The Rock and Andre the Giant.

It doesn’t look to be taking itself too seriously with elemental-based attacks and the ability to knock your opponents out of the ring and into the jaws of alligators. The game is expected to launch on September 18th of this year across all platforms.

Nintendo - Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne originally released in Japan in 2003 and the US in 2004. Now, it’s being remastered for the Nintendo Switch. The post-apocalyptic RPG follows a high school student after he’s transformed into a half-demon. With developer Atlus’s popularity growing among Western audiences thanks to the Persona series, this remaster will likely gain new fans.

The game will launch in Japan on October 29th of this year, but everyone else will have to wait until the worldwide release in the Spring of 2021.

Shin Megami Tensei V

Shin Megami Tensei V

The next entry in the Shin Megami Tensei series was revealed way back in 2017. And there has been little news since then. The footage seen in today’s Nintendo showcase didn’t show any gameplay and not much is known of the story. However, we did get a release window of next year. The game will also receive a simultaneous worldwide release.

Kazuyuki Yamai, the director of Shin Megami Tensei IV, is producing the fifth entry. As of right now, the new title will be a Switch exclusive.
