Xbox announced yesterday via their news blog that the newest iteration of Microsoft Windows will have streaming support for Xbox One users. This will allow seamless streaming of any content played on Xbox One as long as you have a Windows 10 PC or tablet. They are also improving features on the Xbox mobile app to give users more functionality and access to gaming systems across their various devices.

By connecting your PC to your Xbox One via the settings menu, players will be able to access their entire library of Xbox One games from their PCs. Players will be able to control their Xbox One entirely from their PCs. This means that you won’t have to lug around your console when you go on trips or are away from your media center. Of course, if someone is using the Xbox One via the PC connection, no one else will be able to use that particular console.

Xbox’s Major Nelson goes on to describe some of the other newest features:

Party Chat – Above the Friends list is a new option labeled Start a party (beta). This enables you to start a party chat with your Xbox friends across Xbox One and the Xbox App on Windows 10. Press ‘+’ to invite friends, and simply click on your friends to invite them to an online party.

Being able to add people to the Xbox live party/chat and conduct the chat on your smart phone or tablet instead of having the switch back and forth between the console is definitely an improvement many gamers will welcome.

The free mobility that these new features will allow is something many gamers are sure to enjoy. No longer will you have to lug your console around if you are traveling. You can merely grab your laptop and connect to your home console and pick up right where you left off. If this is the future of console gaming, I can’t wait to see what the next development will be.
