After over 10 years away from the spotlight, WWE star Goldberg made a brief return to Legends of Wrestling before heading back to the WWE by way of a rather entertaining feud with Brock Lesnar. Since then, Goldberg has made several appearances that culminated with a Wrestlemania loss to Braun Strowman back in April.

You’d be forgiven in thinking that it would be time for another retirement, and you’d be wrong. After all, such a star can’t possibly bow out with a loss like that, least of all with an event so heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. At the age of 53 Goldberg has plenty more life left in the ring yet.

Speaking to The Pop Culture Show podcast, Goldberg clarified the current state of his WWE contract, and it turns out he’ll wrestle for the company twice per year up to the year 2023.

The star had this to say:

I am contracted with the WWE for the next two years through 2022, ’23. I’ve got two matches per year. I’ve exhausted my limit this year quite early, on April the 5th with Wrestlemania, under those really weird circumstances. But I’ve got a couple other extremely interesting projects right on the cusp.

We got a lot of cool things that people are going to find out about pretty soon.”

If you thought his age would be a problem, Goldberg covered that too:

My WWE commitment is still going strong. At 53, I never would’ve imagined, especially after making fun of Flair when he was doing it in his early 40’s.”

So there we are people, don’t make fun of others, especially when you could end up in a similar situation. Let us know your thoughts on this announcement in the comments. Are you excited to see more Goldberg, or would you rather he walked off into the sunset for good? Also be sure to let us know any older wrestlers you’d love to see continue, or make a comeback.
