2K has revealed a new trailer for NBA 2K21 showcasing the game’s MyCareer mode and beach-themed park. You can check out the trailer down below:

NBA 2K21: Welcome to 2K Beach + Your MyCAREER

Like most NBA 2K games, NBA 2K21 presents your MyPlayer with his own narrative, backstory, and nickname. In this installment, called The Long Shadow, you’ll take up the role of “Junior”. Junior is the son of a well-respected baller. You’ll make your rise up to the NBA through college with 10 teams to pick from. Here’s a list of the available schools:

  • Oklahoma
  • Syracuse
  • Michigan State
  • UConn
  • Gonzaga
  • Florida
  • Texas Tech
  • UCLA
  • West Virginia
  • Villanova

After your stint in college, you’ll begin your journey to the NBA and attempt to live up to your father’s legacy. 2K has had many stars appear in their narratives from Michael B. Jordan to Idris Elba to Rosario Dawson. NBA 2K21 is no different. In The Long Shadow, you’ll see names like Djimon Hounsou (Never Back Down, Guardians of the Galaxy), Jesse Williams (Cabin in the Woods, Grey’s Anatomy), Mirelle Enos (If I Stay, World War Z), and Michael K. Williams (The Wire, Boardwalk Empire).

NBA 2K21 Gets A New Neighborhood

For those who don’t know, 2K’s Neighborhood is a hub where players can squad up to play in 2v2 or 3v3 park games. After using the same location for 2 years, NBA 2K21 is getting a new, beach-themed, Neighborhood. Here’s how 2K described the new park:

“Some eagle-eyed fans may have spotted a new locale from our Everything is Game trailer; itโ€™s official โ€“ welcome to 2K Beach! Soak up the sun and escape to the ocean in a beautiful new setting, surrounded by modern facilities that house SWAGโ€™s, The REC, NBA Store and more. NBA 2K21 will continue to host plenty of events at 2K Beach, providing even more reasons to come back all year long.”

While it’s good to finally see new additions for NBA 2K21, the game’s recent demo left much to be desired. Fans of the series took to the NBA2K subreddit to voice their displeasure over the current-gen version of the game. Many seem to be unhappy with how little change was implemented from NBA 2K20 to NBA 2K21. Along with this, it has been said that 2K plans to build NBA 2K21 “from the ground up” for next-gen systems. As a result, people who aren’t getting a next-gen system right away kinda feel a bit left behind. The new Neighborhood is a nice touch but hopefully, NBA 2K21 will have more new features to show us soon.

NBA 2K21 will release on September 4th for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, and Google Stadia with the next-gen version of the game coming later in 2020.
