Get ready to jump feet first into hell this September 22, when Halo 3: ODST is finally landing for Halo: The Master Chief Collection for PC. Now optimized for PC, the game will come with the updated version of ‘Firefight’ survival mode. Inspired by Halo: Reach‘s ‘Firefight,’ along with all of the “legacy contents” — all 10 maps and settings from the original games — they are also adding dedicated servers and wave customizations.
You will be able to customize how your match runs like starting weapons, movement speed, time limit, lives, and many other features. Quoting The Master Chief Collection Technical Designer Dana Jerpback,
All of the new settings are meant to give players that control; things like the starting weapons, the vehicle set overrides so you can go on ‘Lost Platoon’ and, instead of a chain gun Warthog, you can have a Gauss Hog, a Scorpion, a Hornet, or even an Anti-Air Wraith. You can just go nuts with that and play how you want. You can set random weapons and play Fiesta style, or you can start everyone with a sniper. Things like the time limit, the set limit, betrayal, booting, and friendly fire (plus some additional pieces) are also up for adjustment. It’s up to you to customize and curate the experiences you want.
Halo 3: ODST might be coming with the Season 3 of The Master Chief Collection. As we have talked before, the launch of Season 3 will bring over 80 new customization items for your profile and both of your Halo 3 and ODST multiplayer characters. Also, the Halo 3: ODST–exclusive weapons will be added to the Halo 3 multiplayer sandbox with changes to make them more balanced but still retain their uniqueness. For example:
- Brute Plasma Rifle will fire and overheat faster while taking longer to cool down compared to the standard Plasma Rifle.
- Silenced SMG will be the first fully automatic weapon that can zoom in in Halo 3. It will have an extra range compared to the standard SMG but need controlled bursts to be effective at longer ranges.
- Automag got the most changes thanks to its high fire rate. In Halo 3, the recoil is removed, and they made it into a consistent “five-shot kill” weapon.
