Certainly, one way of capitalizing on the hype surrounding the PS5 version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and its upcoming Intergrade DLC that came out of the recent State of Play would be to make the PS4 version (and at the same time backward-compatible on PS5) available on PlayStation Plus for subscribers in March.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake, PS Plus

Announced in a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony confirmed that the remake of the all-time-classic would be available for PS Plus subscribers starting on March 2. Announced back in the legendary Sony conference at E3 2015 (the one that also featured announcements of The Last Guardian and Shenmue 3 by the way), Final Fantasy 7 Remake is, while technically only one part of the original game – we don’t know when to expect the future installment(s) – still a fantastic recreation of what gamers fell in love with all those years ago, with technology and graphics of a modern standard bringing new fans into the world of Midgar and its inhabitants.

However, an important fact in the small print is that PlayStation users who get FF7R via PS Plus aren’t automatically entitled to a free upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version when that comes out later in 2021 with its Intergrade DLC, but will have to pay to get that version instead. People who buy FF7R or already own it will still be able to redeem that free upgrade in any case.

Joining FF7R is PS5 game Maquette, a first-person puzzler that tricks your mind as interacting with miniature dioramas can change the bigger world around you. Also present is Farpoint, a PlayStation VR shooter that is one of the best examples of first-person immersion. As well as those – Remnant: From the Ashes is a bit more than just “Dark Souls with guns” but still manages to emulate that signature hardcore style of those games excellently. All of the games above will be available until April 5.

Destruction All-Stars is getting a second month on the service, but it’s your last chance to add Control and Concrete Genie to your PS Plus collection so get on that quick! Will you be nabbing FF7R off PS Plus? Have you played and enjoyed any of these as well? Let us know in the comments below!
