Through today’s Monster Hunter April Digital Event, Capcom has announced that the 2.0 title update for Rise is dropping right tomorrow, on April 28. And as promised, the title update will bring in plenty of additional content, including new Elder Dragons, Apexes, layered armor, and so much more. Aside from Rise, Capcom also reveals additional info on Monster Hunter Stories 2. Missed out on the live stream? Here’s all you need to know about the Monster Hunter Rise 2.0 update and the upcoming Wings of Ruin RPG.

Monster Hunter Rise 2.0 Update

As mentioned before, the Monster Hunter Rise 2.0 update is releasing on Wednesday, April 28. The stream didn’t mention anything regarding the Talisman table bug but it is in the works and will also be fixed tomorrow. Meanwhile, the version 3.0 title update that’s releasing at the “end of May” will finally bring the end to the Rampage storyline, as director Yasunori Ichinose promised. Here are all the things that will be added to the game once the update drops.

New Monsters

Like in World, Capcom adds more monsters into Monster Hunter Rise with each new title update. But this time around they’re adding at least five different monsters instead of just one or two. Here’s what comes with the 2.0 version:

  • Chameleos.
  • Teostra.
  • Kushala Daora.
  • Apex Rathalos.
  • Apex Diablos.
  • “And more.”

HR Rank Unlock, Layered Armor, and Event Quests

Monster Hunter Digital Event April Rise 2.0 title update

Your High Rank level will no longer cap at level 7 and you can take on harder Hub, Arena, and single-player only quests. Here are the new things added along with the cap unlock according to the Monster Hunter April Event stream:

  • Layered armor option.
  • Palico and Palamute level cap raised to level 50.
  • The default level in Buddy Scout is raised.
  • New invading monsters.
  • New monsters in Rampage, including Magnamalo.
  • New skills and Rampage Skills.
  • New decorations to craft.
  • New quests that let you fight Apex monsters outside of Rampage. While it does sounds challenging, don’t forget that we also no longer got the Counter Signal buffs so tread these quests with extra cautions!
  • New weapons and armor. From the obvious ones like Teostra, Kushala, and Chameleos armor to the ore-based Damascus armor set.
  • New Event Quests are coming after the 2.0 title update. Once you download any of them, you can play them even in offline mode like in previous handheld titles.
  • Lastly, just like how you can get the Kamura outfit by loading Rise save file in Monster Hunter Stories 2, you can also unlock the Rider layered armor in Rise if you have Stories 2 save data.

New Paid DLCs

Unfortunately, not all the new content is free. Still, these paid DLCs are just cosmetics and Capcom said that they are going to add event quests that give out bonus stickers and gestures in the future.

  • Hunter voices: Minoto and Fugen.
  • Pose: Idol Pose Set.
  • Gesture: Delightful Dance.
  • Hairstyle: Samurai and Twin Ponytails.
  • Face paint: Tear and Petit Face.
  • BGM: Yukumo Village and Kamura Village (Piano version).
  • Sticker set: Special Stickers 1 (by Azarasi Yuzuko).
  • Character Edit Voucher. First one free.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin

Aside from Rise, Capcom also reveals additional info on Monster Hunter Stories 2. Here are the new story details that were shown in the Monster Hunter April Event:

  • Characters from the first Stories game, Lilia and Reverto, will show up. Later, Reverto will even join your party.
  • A mysterious group of Monster Riders will be your enemy, and they seem to have a connection with your friend Kyle and his Palico, Tsukino. They are wearing Anjanath and Death Stench armor set, while their leader is wearing a Nergigante armor.

Aside from story elements, Capcom showcased some important parts of the battle system and changes from the previous installment:

  • Like the first game, the combat still revolved around power balance between Power > Speed > Technical attack type that the Monsties have. But this time they’re making a label for each attack to make it clearer.
  • You can aim at the monster’s body part to break it. Breaking parts will knock it down, forcing the enemy monster to cancel its attack and give you more time.
  • Double Attack will activate when both you and your Monstie use the same attack type and win a Head-to-Head.
  • Attacking with Double Attack will fill up Kinship Gauge that lets you rip out additional devastating damage at your enemies.
  • The addition of Battle Buddies, NPC characters, and Monsties that will join your party along the way and help you fight.

The RPG spin-off will be released on July 9 for Switch and PC, and according to the Capcom mega leak, it will feature 140 monsters in total; with 90 of them will be recruitable to your party as Monsties. Besides the standard release copy, Monster Hunter Stories 2 will also launch with a Deluxe Edition bundle. It contains an extra outfit for both you and your companion Ena, two outfits for Navirou, an exclusive Spiky Nergal hairstyle, and two in-game Sticker Sets.

There is a lot of new content coming with the Monster Hunter Rise 2.0 title update, right? How many and which monsters do you think will come with version 3.0? Share your hopes and ideas with us in the comments below.
