While Battlefield 2042 has reached its early access ahead of its launch next week, some more information about the title has been released. With the latest in the franchise, the title is shaping up to be quite the evolution of combat. DICE has been explaining all of the changes being made to the experience and what to expect on launch. Despite the title taking fans into the future of combat, DICE’s Battlefield 2042 is also omitting a key feature from launch. As Battlefield 2042 might just be the most advanced and futuristic title yet, the game will not include voice chat on launch. While the game launches in just under a week, Battlefield 2042 will reportedly not include voice chat until some time after the initial release.

In-game voice chat is not available in Battlefield 2042, and DICE says they are looking at adding it in the near future.

When Will DICE’s Battlefield 2042 Reintroduce Voice Chat?

Confused by the omission, fans wonder why DICE would provide such a vague statement. Knowing how important communication is, especially for a first-person shooter, voice chat is practically a prerequisite. If DICE plans on maintaining a very popular online system, this omission is deeply concerning. Despite including a ping system to communicate, players will have to use third-party voice chat apps for now. While this is a staple in the video game community, this will more certainly prove cumbersome for console users. Having to wire both voice communications and game audio can be a hassle. Including the feature at a later date is promising, but not comforting to those who pre-ordered. With no set date, it’s up to DICE to tell fans when the feature is coming. While they certainly are working towards including it, the case for omitting it at launch is very odd. Battlefield 2042 launches on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles this November 19.
