Blade Runner Live-Action TV Series Announced
This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information.

Director Ridley Scott has confirmed in a recent interview that a live-action TV series based on two of his most of two of his projects, Blade Runner and Alien, are currently in development, with pilots already written for both shows. Speaking with the BBC on Monday, he explained that the Blade Runner adaptation is being plotted as a 10-episode series. The Alien series was first announced back in December of 2020, which will include an accompanying story bible for a one-hour 10-episode season. However, news of the Blade Runner series has only surfaced recently, although the project was rumored back in February.

“We have already written the pilot for Blade Runner and the bible,โ€ he said. โ€œSo, weโ€™re already presenting Blade Runner as a TV show, probably the first 10 hours”, Scott said.

The Alien TV series heading to FX has been described by FX boss John Landgraf as the first Alien story set on Earth, which will blend both the timeless horror of the first Alien film and the non-stop action of the second to create a whole new experience for both new and old fans to enjoy.

As of right now, no official details have been provided regarding the plot, summary, or release date of the Blade Runner TV series, nor any details regarding who will be writing or directing the project. It is possible that will occur respective to the events of either the original Blade Runner, 2017โ€™s Blade Runner 2049, or the recent Blade Runner: Black Lotus series currently available on Adult Swim. The original Blade Runnerย premiered in 1982, directed by Scott and starring Harrison Ford as blade runner Rick Deckard. Although the film’s theatrical cut saw mixed reception, the director’s cut of the film earned near-universal acclaim, and Scott later tweaked the film further to release his final cut in 2007.

More details on the upcoming Blade Runner and Alien TV series are expected to be released in the near future.
