Bethesda veteran game developer Nate Purkeypile announced their new solo project, The Axis Unseen.ย The new game is being developed under his new gaming studio, Just Purkey Games. Purkeypile’s past work includes popular titles such as Fallout 3, Fallout 4,ย and he was appointed lead artist forย Fallout 76.

Described as an open-world hunting game,ย  the synopsis for The Axis Unseen reads: “hunt and track monsters in a world trapped outside of time. Upgrade your bow and your senses. Reach shelter before nightfall. Don’t forget that you are being hunted as well.”

The Axis Unseen attempts to answer the question, ‘what if there was a dark-fantasy, heavy-metal, open-world first-person hunting game using the beauty of Unreal Engine 5?’ According to the Steam page, players will hunt (and be hunted by) monsters from folklore all around the world. Staying true to reality, players will follow blood trails and footprints while having to stay mindful of the wind to track their prey.

Outside ofย The Axis Unseen, Purkeypileย also worked on Starfield, Metroid Prime 3, Bloodrayne 2, Skyrim, Fallout 3, and Fallout 4.ย He is the sole developer at Just Purkey Games at the moment, but he did receive some help for the music in The Axis Unseen.ย Clifford Meyer, a keyboardist, guitarist, and vocalist from the bands ISIS and Red Sparowe. Meyer created the music for this open-world experience which can be heard in the trailer featured above.

The release date for The Axis Unseenย is currently cleverly listed as “When the Axis aligns.” However, you can add it to your Steam wish list or check it out on the Epic Games Store.ย  It is unclear as to how soonย The Axis Unclearย will be available for play on consoles.
