You can evolve companions in numerous ways. However, in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, the only way to evolve Buneary is to focus on gaining their friendship.
Evolve Buneary in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl
Friendship really does matter in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl. You can’t evolve some companions otherwise, and Buneary is one of them. You have to hit the High Friendship stat if you want Buneary to evolve into Lopunny. If it levels up while having that high stat, then it will automatically start the evolution process.
Tips to Raise Friendship
You can simply keep Buneary out during your travels as Pokémon continue to gain friendship points while you walk. They will also naturally gain points when you battle with them, so pull this Normal-type Pokémon out whenever you can.
Don’t forget to let them compete in Contests. Additionally, you can also have your Buneary hold a Soothe Bell. This should help you raise those friendship levels in little time. And by then, your Buneary should evolve in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl.
Locating Buneary in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl
If you haven’t caught a Buneary yet, you can head to a single spot out in the wild and several in the Grand Underground. In the wild, head to Eterna Forest. Buneary is a rare encounter at all times of the day. Meanwhile, in the Grand Underground, you can go to the following areas:
- Glacial Cavern
- Grassland Cave
- Icy Cave
- Riverbank Cave
- Spacious Cave
- Still-Water Cavern
- Sunlit Cavern
- Whiteout Cave
Since friendship is important for Buneary to evolve in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, consider using a Luxury Ball when you catch it. If you do so, they will gain friendship faster than if caught in a regular Poké Ball.
In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, you can evolve the always-adorable rabbit-like companion Buneary once it levels up while having a High Friendship stat. It isn’t too tough to achieve, thankfully. Keep them close by, toss in a Soothe Bell, and you should have it evolving into Lopunny in no time.
