PlayStation’s State of Play kicked off today, showcasing a new trailer for the new Bethesda Softworks and Tango Gameworks game Ghostwire: Tokyo. As part of the frequent PlayStation event, the trailer shows off more of the gameplay and more of the story. Ghostwire: Tokyo will release later this month, on March 25th.

Save the City from a Supernatural Threat in Ghostwire: Tokyo

In the Ghostwire: Tokyo trailer, the city has become overrun by a supernatural force, set forth by a dangerous cult that caused Tokyo’s population to vanish instantly. Step into the shoes of Akito as he gets thrown into the world of supernatural occultism. Akito, possed by a spirit detective named KK, together the two will scour the city fighting enemies along the way.

Ghostwire: Tokyo moves away from the usual horror survival genre that we are familiar with playing. Adapting more of an action-horror game genre, Ghostwire: Tokyo will feel closer to Doom or Thief than many of the other horror games out there. The player will have more flexibility and maneuverability when traversing the map and dealing with foes to save the city of Tokyo.

The PlayStation version will feature the Dualsense controller, using the controller’s built-in audio feature. In addition, players will be able to hear “voices from the other side,” which will give players a sixth sense will assist them in detecting supernatural goings-on. Using all of these abilities, will Akito and KK solve the mystery surrounding this supernatural cult? Can they save Tokyo?

Lastly, Xbox fans should also keep their eye out. With the recent acquisitions of Bethesda by Microsoft, there is a chance that Ghostwire: Tokyo could see an Xbox release sometime at the end of next year. Ghostwire: Tokyo will be available on March 25th on PlayStation 4 & 5 and PC via Steam. Check out their product page for more information about the Tango Gameworks game Ghostwire: Tokyo. Additionally, more details regarding Bethesda Softworks or Tango Gameworks can be found on their development pages.
