A recent announcement from Take-Two Interactive President Karl Slatoff suggests that Red Dead Redemption 2 could finally be released next year.ย There are reports that the game would come out early next year, but there are also speculations that it would roll out to gaming shelves in October.

“It’s wonderful to see so much excitement and enthusiasm for the ‘Red Dead series, and nearly 5 years after ‘Red Dead Redemption’s‘ release,โ€ Rockstar said in a Q&A. โ€œAs we’ve mentioned when asked in the past about new games in other series such as ‘Red Dead Redemption,‘ ‘Bully,‘ and ‘L.A. Noire,’ we don’t always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won’t get to them eventually.

A source from Cyberlandย revealed that developer Rockstar Games is currently finalizing their plans for GTAV and they are going to focus on RDR 2 now. ย โ€œMy source says that Rockstar is currently finalizing their plans for GTAV and they are going to focus on RDR2 now. Rockstar expects the game to be out by October next year as long as the devs don’t hit any roadblocks during development.”

Will John Marston return, or will we see a new protagonist?

Recently, it has been reportedย that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be developed by Take-Two Interactive.ย Take-Two president Karl Slatoff hinted that they have โ€œunannounced game projects,โ€ and it is now believed that Red Dead Redemption 2ย is one of those games he hinted at.

Take-Two CEO Straus Zelnich said that Red Dead is going to be a franchise for sure.”I pretty much know the ones that I can assure you are permanent,โ€ Zelnich said in a conference. โ€œIt’s obvious that ‘GTA‘ is a permanent franchise as long as we keep delivering this incredible quality; it seems quite obvious that ‘Red Dead’ is a permanent franchise, again with the same caveat, or Borderlands, for example.”

A Reddit user named AnonDN1978 also claimed that the installment will have a multiplayer game called gang mode and that the follow-up will be titled Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West. The Reddit user added that Rockstar has been working on the sequel for 3 and 1/2 years now.

Crossmapย also reported that there are theories and ideas about the game that are moving about. One possible setting for the upcoming sequel will be in Japan, far from the original feel of the first game, which is set in the Wild West. The other is that it will potentially be set in the eastern United States, includingย Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Rocky Mountains, Dakota and, of course, Mexico.

While this may just be rumors and speculation for now, Red Dead Redemption is one of the most popular games of all time, so it would be more of a surprise if Take-Two didn’t try and capitalize on it. There is, unfortunately, no other news in regards to when we can expect to hear more about the game. ย Stay tuned for updates and details!

I believe that games are an important form of entertainment, and that they can uplift and inspire millions of people around the world. I love JRPGs, and dabble in many other genres, especially MOBAs.
