With Destiny‘s Iron Banner multiplayer event coming to an end this Tuesday, Bungie decided to surprise everyone with a sneak peak at their new update. Focused on much-needed weapon tuning for both competitive multiplayer and Co-op based activities; these new changes are an attempt to put all of the gun archetypes on an even playing field. We also got news that new Year 1 exotics will be moving forward into Year 2, along with two brand new ones for players to try out. The list of changes is expensive so if you want to read over every last detail you can go to Bungie’s official reveal to see their explanations for each change. Below are some of the most notable changes to certain guns, though if you’re a shotgun fan prepare to be sad.

Pulse Rifles:

  • Damage reductions across the board for all Rate of Fire (RoF) Pulse Rifles.
    • Notable reductions include the Bad JuJu, Red Death, and Hawksaw all receiving an 8% base reduction in damage.
  • Pulse Rifles also will be receiving damage falloff at the Hand Cannon and Auto Rifle ranges respectively.
  • Their base damage against A.I. combatants has been raised from 1.25x to 1.3x

Auto Rifles:

  • Slight increase to base damage across the board.
    • Ranges from 3% all the way to 7%

Hand Cannons:

  • Increased Aim Down Sights Accuracy for all Hand Cannons.
  • The Hunter’s Golden Gun Super is not affected by these changes.

Shotguns:

  • Slower ready/stow times
  • Reload speeds slower for all shotguns
  • Slower Aim Down Sights for all shotguns
  • Movement of any kind now slower when a shotgun is equipped
  • Added 2 frames delay when firing out of sprint
  • Increased base damage against A.I. from 1.55x to 1.6x

Fusion Rifles:

  • Increased Charge Stat on all fast charging Fusion Rifles
  • Reduction in carried ammo
  • Increased A.I. damage from 1.15x to 1.25x

Sniper Rifles:

  • Luck in the Chamber perk now only triggers on critical hits

Side Arms:

  • Draw/stow time speed increased across the board.

While there are some more changes to these guns, the ones listed above are probably the most important. Shotguns took a massive hit this time around, with Fusion Rifles and Auto Rifles getting the biggest bumps. While the Pulse Rifle/Shotgun combo is running rampant in Crucible right now, it’s clear Bungie is trying to balance all of their weapons. Though the major changes to certain gun types seem to be far more PvP focused over PvE. It will be interesting to see how the changes affect those who don’t do a lot of competitive matches.

The last change came from the official Destiny Instagram, where they revealed one by one which Year 1 exotics will be joining us in Year 2. Below is the list of all known exotics upon writing this article.

  • Mida Multi-Tool
  • The Armentarium
  • Dragon’s Breath
  • Plan C
  • Nothing Manacles
  • Super Good Advice
  • Peregrine Greaves
  • Apotheosis Veil
  • No Land Beyond
  • Radiant Dance Machines
  • Bones of Eao
  • Hard Light
  • Achlyophage Symbiote

What do you think of all the changes? Any Exotic you want to see come to Year 2? What do you think about the major Shotgun adjustments? Sound off below!
