The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 opened at number one at this weekendโ€™s box office, earning $101 million U.S. domestically.

However, this is $20 million less than what Part 1 opened to last year. Catching Fire opened at $158 million while the first installment earned $152 million in its opening weekend. While itโ€™s great to see these films rake in more than $100 million in their respective opening weekends, it seems the appetite for the Hunger Games films has been waning over the last few years.

Spectre suffered a pretty big drop off, raking in $14.6 million. While this may be due to the arrival of Mockingjay Part Two, it remains to be seen if the latest Bond film will have the staying power of Skyfall. The filmโ€™s worldwide total is $677 million, which remains an impressive figure.

The Night Before and The Secret in Their Eyes were the other two big newcomers to debut this weekend, and they placed in 4th and 5th respectively. The Night Before earned $10.1 million and has opened to solid reviews. The Secrets in Their Eyes, boasting a cast of Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts, and Chiwetel Ejiofor only earned $6.3 million and mixed reviews so far.
