With how fun fireworks can be, it’s perfect then that Minecraft gives you some wiggle room when you make them. There are several variations, allowing you varied forms of celebration from different colors to a Creeper-shaped firework. But before we get into these variations, let’s address the basic methods of making them.

To make a firework rocket in Minecraft, you need the following items:

  • Paper: Loot or craft from Sugarcane
  • Gunpowder: Loot

You can add a total of 3x Gunpowder to the Minecraft firework recipe. The more you add, the greater the duration of it. Note that the above is only the recipe for the firework rocket. There are no explosion effects. Those only come when you add a Firework Star to the recipe.
