After knowing its end-of-the-year release window, Netflix has given us an official date for the Knives Out sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. The film hits the streaming platform on December 23 after a limited theatrical run. For fans who want to see it in theaters, you will have to wait a little longer as that date will be announced at a later time.

Fans of Rian Johnson’s whodunit have more to enjoy today as the streamer put out first-look images of the upcoming film. The Knives Out sequel will be set in Greece with a new ensemble cast of despicable rich people who are all murder suspects. In one image (seen above), we see a dinner party in an elaborate set that shows Edward Norton, Janelle Monรกe (Moonlight), Kathryn Hahn (WandaVision), Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton), Jessica Henwick (The Gray Man), Madelyn Cline (Outer Banks), Kate Hudson (Truth Be Told), Dave Bautista, and Daniel Craig as he reprises his private investigator. Notable, Ethan Hawke is missing from the image. As to what that might mean, whether his character was elsewhere or the victim is still unknown.

The second image shows Johnson in action as he instructs Monรกe (seen below) with a backdrop that shows Greece’s beauty. He will return as the director and writer of the Knives Out sequel.

The Knives Out sequel has a high bar to reach when it releases this December. The 2019 film had a monstrous cast with Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson (Watchmen), Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette (Hereditary), LaKeith Stanfield (Get Out), Christopher Plummer, and Jaeden Martell (Defending Jacob). The film was praised for its clever mystery that weaved humor with its intensity. It was nominated for Best Original Screenplay.

Netflix distributing the Knives Out sequel was a part of a deal with Johnson that will deliver an additional third film in the series. With that in the distance, Glass Onion will satisfy as it releases on December 23 on Netflix, with the confirmation of the theatrical date coming later.
