Modern Warfare 2: How to Use Keyboard and Mouse on PlayStation and Xbox
This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

PC was the home of FPS games back in the day. However, thanks to the success of GoldenEye 007, Halo, and countless successors, the genre also found wide popularity on the home console scenes. Still, even though most console users are comfortable playing FPS using controllers, some feel using a keyboard and mouse is the proper way to go. Thankfully, the upcoming blockbuster Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 remake supports such an option. Here’s how you can use a keyboard and mouse for COD: Modern Warfare 2 while playing on a PlayStation or Xbox console.

How to Use Keyboard and Mouse on Consoles for COD: Modern Warfare 2

For players playing COD: Modern Warfare 2 on the previous generations of consoles — PS4 and Xbox One — you would need a third-party adapter to play the game with a keyboard and mouse. You can choose several adapters, like the Bluetooth wireless XIM APEX adapter, or wired ones, such as the C91 Keyboard and Mouse adapter and IOGEAR KeyMander, among others. All you need to do is plug them into the USB port of your PlayStation 4 or Xbox One and then connect your keyboard and mouse. Usually, you would need to connect the keyboard and mouse and make sure the console recognizes them first before starting the game.

Meanwhile, for current generation consoles, the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, COD: Modern Warfare 2 have native keyboard and mouse support. That means everything is already plug-and-play. All you need to do is:

  1. Plug your keyboard and mouse pair of your choice to the console’s USB port.
  2. See that the mouse indicator pops up on the Home screen
  3. Start COD: Modern Warfare 2.
  4. Open Settings, go to the Controller menu, then select Input Device.
  5. And you are good to go!

You should be able to begin playing COD: Modern Warfare 2 like you would on a PC as soon as you can connect your keyboard and mouse to your PlayStation or Xbox.

However, keep in mind that using a keyboard and mouse on the console means Aim Assist will be automatically disabled. In the lobby, a mouse icon will show up beside your username, letting other players know you are not using a controller.
