Need for Speed: Unbound follows in its predecessors’ footsteps by giving players a massive car garage to buy. However, you can’t buy cars right away in the game. Since the option is locked out, players eagerly await the opportunity to fill their garage with their favorite vehicles. If you’re one of those players, we have all the information you need to learn how to buy cars in the game.

The 30th installment in the franchise, Need for Speed: Unbound, takes place in the fictional city of Lakeshore. As usual, the game features a single-player story campaign and a multiplayer portion, Lakeshore Online, which is separate from it. In the game, you can customize your driver based on their physical attributes and style. More important, perhaps, is vehicle customization.

Like previous games, Need for Speed: Unbound features more than 140 cars you can earn as rewards or buy. The issue players encounter in the beginning, however, is that they cannot buy cars. You must unlock this option first before you can take advantage of it.

So, just how do we buy cars in the game? Well, without spoiling anything, we’ll just tell you that you need to complete the prologue missions. Once the intro is over, you’ll have the option to buy cars from Rydell’s Garage.

When you open up the garage shop, you’re instructed to use the cash from Tess to buy your new car in Need for Speed: Unbound. You’ll notice, though, that not all of the cars are unlocked. So, there is still some progress or other things you need to do in the story to unlock them all. Also, keep in mind your money. Many of these will be outside your price range. Just do some more missions, races, events, etc., to save up.

Once you buy your first car in Need for Speed: Unbound, you can customize it by adding effects and tags you’ve unlocked. You can always still use your starter car, which is one of the following options:

  • Dodge Charger R/T (1969)
  • Lamborghini Golf GTI Clubsport (2016)
  • Nissan Silvia K’s (1998)

Still, buying your car is the first step to expanding your own garage. Just work through that initial opening, and you can get to the garage in no time.
