Variety of Resource Item Piles in Stranded Deep
This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Item Piles are a form of resource storage in Stranded Deep that allows players to place items of a single category into a collective pile atop a surface. For example, suppose survivors have a dozen or so Rocks in their inventory. In that case, they can build a Rock Pile to keep all of their stone resources in a single location, easily accessible for future use in Stranded Deep. Item Piles serve as a container that can be “opened,” with each entity being removable. This change not only takes place logistically within the container inventory, but players can also see the number of objects increase or decrease in the Item Pile.

To build an Item Pile in Stranded Deep, players must open their Quick Craft Menu and select the resource they wish to turn into a pile. For instance, if they are holding Sticks, they will find Wood Stick Pile in the Quick Craft Menu. For PC users, the menu’s hotkey will be C by default.

According to YouTuber Agoork, players must have at least two stacks of a target resource to create its Item Pile in Stranded Deep. Each pile can contain up to 50 objects, after which another pile must be created to store more resources. Basic items, such as Coconuts, Clay, Lashing, Fibrous Roots, or Sticks, can be made into Item Piles. Conversely, players must keep in mind that there are resources or materials which cannot be added to Item Piles, such as Shark Repellent or Campfires.

Item Piles in Stranded Deep not only store specific resources for convenient access, but players can also use these containers as decorations for their camp. Having a designated stash for building and crafting materials is practical, but players can also place piles in certain ways to make their home look more organized and cozy. Moreover, Item Piles can be used to cover small spots on the ground where players might feel the area is not visually pleasing. For example, piles of Rocks or Sticks can cover something clipping through the floor or an unsightly patch of dirt in a grassy area.

Stranded Deep is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
