One of the best parts of Hogwarts Legacy is the ability to pick your own house. The Sorting Ceremony is a vital part of Harry Potter, and getting to take part in it is great. Your choice of house is one of the most important you’ll make in the game, as it says a great deal about what kind of character you want to be. From brave Gryffindor and loyal Hufflepuff to brilliant Ravenclaw, each offers something unique. Last but not least is Slytherin, a house known for its history of dark wizards and darker magic. If you want to play a character defined by their ambition and cunning, you’ll need to know how to get Slytherin in Hogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts Legacy is unusual because it gives players two ways to get picked for House Slytherin. You can complete the first before even starting the game, while the second will occur during character creation, and you won’t even need the game’s best mods to make it happen.

Pottermore Quiz

To get picked for House Slytherin using the first method, you’ll need to visit Pottermore, a website connected to the official Wizarding World Site. There you’ll take a quiz that will tell you which house you belong to, as well as what your Patronus and wand are. Sadly, you won’t be able to take your custom Patronus with you into Hogwarts Legacy, but your house and wand carry with you into the game. Here’s the process you need to follow:

  • Head to the Legacy Connect site and create an account
  • Log in and proceed with the test
  • Get sorted depending on the answers you give
    • To ensure you get Slytherin, give answers that lean toward darker stuff. Questions are always random, so use your judgment to pick the ones that align with Slytherin. Remember that cunning and ambition are Slytherin’s defining traits!
  • Do the wand test (Optional)
  • Link your accounts once you finish.

Choosing Slytherin & Other Houses in Sorting Hat Ceremony

If you’d prefer to determine your selection within the game instead, you can do so as part of the Sorting Ceremony. During the ceremony, the game will present you with a question and, depending on your answer, assign you to a house. There’s no rush: you can take your time on the selection screen before making a final choice. These are the answers for each one of the Houses in the game:

  • Slytherin – “Ambition”
  • Hufflepuff – “Loyalty”
  • Ravenclaw – “Curiosity”
  • Gryffindor – “Daring”

So, there you go, the two ways to get Slytherin in Hogwarts Legacy. We strongly recommend going for the website option, as it is a fun quiz that is a bit more personal. Whether you’re a fan or not, we can’t stress enough how great the quiz is if you want to immerse yourself in this world.

Can You Change Houses in Hogwarts Legacy?

You can’t change houses in Hogwarts Legacy once you’ve picked. That’s worth keeping in mind if you’re trying to get Slytherin. If you want to change houses, your only option is to start a new game. Thankfully, you get the initial House quest early on, so if you regret your pick you won’t have to do a bunch of grinding to get back to where you were. There’s also an achievement for making a character for each house, so that’s a plus.
