Whether you need Untapped Forbidden Knowledge to upgrade your Primalist gear or keys to loot Zskera Vaults, Forbidden Hoards is the activity you should focus on when exploring the Forbidden Reach in WoW Dragonflight. As its name implies, Forbidden Hoards are chest caches containing valuables that can help progress your experience in the Forbidden Reach. While no prerequisites or quests are tied to these treasure containers, looting these caches is not as simple as approaching and collecting the goods. Instead, you will need to defeat a small horde of Elites to gain access to the Forbidden Hoards’ hoard in WoW Dragonflight.

Every 30 minutes in the Forbidden Reach, a Forbidden Hoards chest will spawn on the map in WoW Dragonflight. These chests appear in fixed locations, but the chosen site is randomized. Fortunately, there is no need to scour the region’s map, as Forbidden Hoards will appear as silver chest icons with locks and a starry border.

Accordingly, while you are in the Forbidden Reach, open your map and check for any silver Forbidden Hoards icons. If one is available, get atop your dragon and fly to the location. You can go alone or take companions to expedite the combat sequence. It is likely that other random adventurers will join you after you arrive. The chest for this half-hour interval event can appear in a cave or in the overworld. Whatever the case, Forbidden Hoards cannot be looted until all the WoW Dragonflight Elites guarding the cache have been defeated. The enemies that appear will differ depending on the spawn location of the hoard.

Once every enemy connected to a Forbidden Hoards chest in WoW Dragonflight has been slain, the notification “A nearby chest unlocks” indicates that you are able to loot the cache. As noted above, these chests will contain Untapped Forbidden Knowledge tomes for upgrading gear, Zskera Vault Keys, Elemental Overflow currency, and other Primalist loot. If you are interested to know the possible locations where Forbidden Hoards can spawn, consider watching YouTuber ZaFrostPet‘s video guide. Nevertheless, it is not necessary to memorize these places since the icon will always appear every 30 minutes.
