Windows 10 Roadmap Outlines Future Updates

Microsoft has given new details on what Windows 10 users can expect from the operating system in the future.

The list outlines upcoming features for the public version, preview version, and features that are currently in development. The most interesting updates are increased security, improvements to the Microsoft Passport, and the ability to unlock your Windows 10 PC using your smartphone.

The unlocking feature will only be available on Windows and Android phones and will have several security features in place to ensure the protection of the machine. Another exciting addition to the platform is PC to PC casting. This will allow users to share their screen between computers. This will help with system troubleshooting and machine maintenance.

These updates alongside additions to Cortana and other operating system capabilities will start to roll out in July.

There was not any mention of gaming features, but Microsoft has been heavily pushing games with Windows 10. This service will blend the Xbox and PC games divisions at Microsoft. Quantum Break released for Xbox One and PC simultaneously earlier this month, and Killer Instinct also came to the platform recently. This trend will likely continue with upcoming Xbox exclusives such as Gears of War 4, Halo Wars 2 and Sea of Thieves.
