World of Warcraftย Legionย will launch August 30, announced by Blizzard today.
The next chapter in the once great MMORPG raises the level cap yet again, this time letting players reach 110 while also introducing the new class, Demon Hunter. As with most expansions, Legion will also open up a new playable continent, called the Broken Isles, moreย customizable artifact weapons, and new dungeons and raids. Blizzard has also promised a revamp of the PvP system.
World of Warcraft Legion will pit players in the middle of the war between against the Burning Legion, an army of demons hellbent on taking over Azeroth. It will also see the return of one of the World of Warcraft’s most beloved characters,ย Illidan Stormrage.
Blizzard CEO and co-founderย Mike Morhaime explained the next expansion in a brief statement “”Legion opens a dark and thrilling new chapter in one of the Warcraft series’ greatest conflicts, and things will never be the same for some of Azeroth’s most iconic heroes and villains.”
World of Warcraft has seen a significant drop in total subscriptions counts, currently sitting at around 5.5 million, the lowest it’s been since 2005. Although rumors have circled regarding World of Warcraft going free-to-play, Blizzard has denied said rumors.
The standard edition of World of Warcraft Legion will cost $49.99, while the Digital Deluxe copy will run for $69.99, and will feature content for all other Blizzard games. Finally, the Collector’s Edition will cost $89.99, and will feature a hardcover art book, behind-the-scenes Blu-Ray discs, a CD soundtrack, a mousepad, and all the digital content packed with the Digital Deluxe copy.
