Destiny 1 players have a fond memory of discovering Taken weapons. In particular, the first Taken Sword, Dreadfang, captured the hearts of many. Seven years and one sequel later, Destiny 2 players are discovering a new Taken Sword, Thin Precipice. Whether or not it will live up to the legacy of Dreadfang remains to be seen. Until then, we can discuss how to get the Thin Precipice Sword and what the God Roll for it is in Destiny 2.
How To Obtain The Thin Precipice In Destiny 2
For the short and sweet answer, you’ll need to play the new Seasonal activities, Salvage and Deep Dive, to obtain the Thin Precipice Sword. Looting the final chest after defeating the boss at the end of the activity will be your only source for the gun. Earning one at first will be a little tricky, as the loot pool will consist of all the new armor, including the rest of the Taken Weapons.
However, you can also earn the gun by decrypting Deep Engrams at the Sonar Station in the Helm. Again, some RNG is needed, but earning more will be far more convenient after you get at least one.
With the knowledge of how to obtain the weapon, it’s time to discuss what roll you should be looking for.
Thin Precipice Sword God Roll
Thin Precipice’s perk pool could be better for PvP, but PvE is where Swords truly shine anyway. Being the first Strand Sword, this weapon has a lot of options to work with that can make a solid build. With that in mind, the God Roll you should be looking for is Tireless Blade and Chain Reaction.ย
Tireless Blade will refund one ammo perk kill, while Chain Reaction will create a Strand Explosion on each final blow. This is a fantastic combo for Strand builds, as unless you’re a Broodweaver Warlock, Strand struggles in the ad clear department. However, pair this weapon with their powerful suspend builds, and now we have some true ad clear potential.
Overall, Thin Precipice is a great new addition to the line of Strand weapons. Unfortunately, Swords haven’t been a staple in the meta for some time now, so it’s likely this weapon won’t be game-breaking anytime soon. That said, getting one early wouldn’t be a bad idea, as it’s only a matter of time before Swords become relevant again outside of normal PvE activities.
