Last year DC announced their line up of films including next year’s Justice League Part 1 and 2019’s Justice League Part 2. At the time, it wasn’t sure if those were placeholders or not for the real titles. This past weekend Geoff Johns, who is now part of the new creation team heading up the DC film universe, tweeted out the confirmation of a retitle for Justice League Part 1. It seems a bit simpler than previously thought:

Justice League Part 1 is now simply titled Justice League. Not much of a difference mind you, but it works.

When looking at the larger scope of things, it is the end of a trilogy that started back with 2013’s Man of Steel, followed by this year’s critically panned Batman v Superman. Bruce Wayne said he needed to make a team to fight an upcoming threat (seemingly confirmed to be Steppenwolf) that will honor Superman’s memory. He is forming the league.

Already, some people seem ok with the title change. It’s just people want a movie better than Batman v Superman. Can’t blame them. The movie has a 27% Critic score and a 66% Fan score on Rotten Tomatoes, while being a lot better on Metacritic. Suicide Squad comes out later this year and if test screenings are any indication, DC could be right back on track.

Justice League comes out November 17 after Wonder Woman in June in 2017. With only little over a year to go until release and the fact that they have been filming since March, expect some news in the coming months. San Diego Comic Con is your best bet for information.

A title for Part 2 is unknown at the time, but probably expect some sort of subtitle.

Are you excited for more DC Universe Films? What are your thoughts on the new title for Justice League?
