Longtime X-Men villain Mister Sinister looks to be taking a break from nefarious plans to work on his marriage. Sinister’s estranged wife, Rebecca, has often been at odds with her genetics-obsessed husband. Of course, her death and resurrection in the clone known as Mother Righteous have played a large part in those odds. However, the two seem to have reconciled in previews for X-Men: Before the Fall – The Sinister Four #1, a prequel to the Fall of X event.
X-Men: Before the Fall – The Sinister Four #1
X-Men: Before the Fall – The Sinister Four #1 comes from writer Kieron Gillen and artist Paco Medina. It serves as a prequel of sorts for the upcoming Fall of X event that will upend everyone on Krakoa. This includes Mister Sinister, Mother Righteous, the X-Men, and everyone else. So, any marital bliss Mister Sinister and his wife find may be short-lived.
Previews for the prequel flashback to London in 1852 before Mister Sinister was, well, Sinister. Instead, he is Victorian scientist Nathaniel Essex taking Rebecca for an evening stroll. As they discuss the politics of the time, Essex suddenly proposes, and an elated Rebecca agrees. The prequel then flashes forward to London today. Here one of Mister Sinister’s clones, the Clone of Clubs, is preparing dinner for Rebecca’s clone AKA Mother Righteous. This Mister Sinister is agitated, trying to ensure everything is perfect as he attempts to “re-create the family [he] lost.”
Hopefully, the two can reconcile, as only clones can, before the Fall of X ruins everything.
Nathaniel And Rebecca Together Forever
Of course, this is not the first time that Mister Sinister has attempted to reconcile his marriage. Previous attempts have shown Mister Sinister endeavoring to create clones of Rebecca and his long-dead son Adam. Of course, Mother Righteous has her own opinions on Sinister’s attempts to bring her counterpart back to life. Mainly, she wants him to stop, as she seems to be grossed out by it. So, her agreeing to dinner with an Essex clone is quite surprising.
