Pokemonย Go Trainers participating in the All In One #151 Masterwork Research are given a notable task in Step 1 โ€” “Earn the Platinum Kanto Medal.” Several dozen Ultraballs is quite a high-end reward for this task, but obtaining the related medal involves more than catching several dozen Pokemon. Specifically, you’ll need to register Kanto pocket monster entries into your in-game Pokedex, and the required number is no simple goal. Unless you’ve been a long-time active Trainer, earning the Platinum Kanto Medal inย Pokemon Goย is a tough objective to complete.

How Do You Get the Platinum Kanto Medal?

Earning the Platinum Kanto Medal inย Pokemon Goย requires Trainers to register all 151 Pokemon from Kanto into their Pokedex. This is no small feat, as this involves acquiring Bulbasaur and Mew and all the Pokemon in between. Fortunately, a good majority of these regional monsters appear frequently throughout the year on a regular basis. Rarer ones also appear during special limited-time events and Raids.

It should be noted that you do not need to “catch” all 151 Kanto Pokemon to get the Kanto Region’s Platinum Medal. Evolving a monster also counts as registering an entry. For instance, if you’ve never found Pidgeot in the wild, worry not. Pidgey is a relatively common spawn, meaning you can quickly reach the species’ third evolution by farming 62 Candy with ease.

Another method of getting pocket monsters to obtain the Platinum Kanto Medal inย Pokemon Goย is by taking advantage of Trading. If you browse the web, you should find plenty of community-run sites and forums with Trainers eager to trade their Pokemon.ย Pokemon Go‘s community is incredibly active, so finding the entries you need should be relatively easy. Do note you’ll need quite a bit of accumulated Stardust to make multiple trades for rare monsters.

It would be quite ineffective to list every Kanto Pokemon or discuss how to get all of them due to the constant updates and changes. However, we will note that Legendaries like Mewtwo, Zapdos, or Articuno only appear during time-limited 5-Star Raid Battles. Then there are region-locked Pokemon that only appear during global special events, such as Farfetch’d or Mr. Mime. You can use the Trading mechanic mentioned above if you find another player willing to part with their region’s exclusives.

There are two rare ones that we recommend keeping an eye out for unless you’ve caught them already:

  • Ditto: This shapeshifter will appear as one of the following (July 2023): Corphish, Diglett, Grimer, Litleo, Roggenrola, Snubbull, Starly, or Tympole.ย
  • Mew: You can get this pocket monster by completing A Mythical Discovery, a Special Research available at Level 15 for all Trainers.
