Live Nation has announced the unexpected cancelation of Travis Scott’s Pyramid concert, offering an ambiguous explanation for why it was canceled. Earlier this month, Travis unveiled plans to hold a show at the famed Pyramids of Giza, in Egypt, which happens to be one of the wonders of the world. The rapper fixed the date as Friday, July 28, putting the tickets up for sale. Since the announcement, fans have indicated their interest in their numbers, purchasing tickets in anticipation of the otherworldly experience.

Eager fans faced a disappointing awakening on Wednesday, July 26. Live Nation, the company championing the production, ticket sales, and distribution took to their official Twitter page to announce a glitch in the plans. In the social media announcement, Live Nation admitted that their plans to construct the show in the desert proved futile despite their “highest efforts.” The statement began:

“We regret to inform you that the UTOPIA show, originally scheduled for July 28th at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt is canceled. Unfortunately, despite the highest efforts, complex production issues meant that the show could not be constructed in the desert. We understand that this news is disappointing and not the outcome any of us desired.”

Live Nation promised to refund payment on all issued tickets at their points of purchase. Going further, the company apologized for the inconvenience to fans caused by the canceled Travis Scott Pyramid concert. They pledged to remain committed to bringing exceptional live performances to fans in the future, hopefully, without any problems.

While Live Nation attributed the impromptu cancellation of the Pyramid concert to “production issues,” several fans and media outlets believe otherwise. Many have linked the disappointing turn of events to Travis Scott’s spat with Egypt’s Musicians Syndicate just days before the show got canceled.

Notably, Egypt’s Musicians Syndicate has pushed back against Travis’ Pyramid concert since its announcement. The organization believed the performance at the Pyramids of Giza would go against the “cultural identity of the Egyptian people.” According to them, the rapper’s type of concerts strongly opposed their culture and practices. Hence, their decision to cancel the show’s permit.

However, despite the constant pushback in the past weeks, neither Live Nation nor Travis Scott addressed the backlash or threats to have the Pyramid concert canceled. Contrariwise, they gave fans continuous reassurances that the show would take place as planned come Friday the 28th. Turns out the opposition proved a stronger force than expected.
