When you walk into the theater for a superhero movie, you can usually expect to see extra scenes in the middle of and after the credits. With few exceptions, like Endgame, most have at least one or two scenes. Some go beyond that, such as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. As DC prepares to release Blue Beetle, we wonder about its post-credits scene situation. Due to recent reports, we have details without spoilers on what to expect when the film releases next week (August 18).

The Blue Beetle Post-Credits Scene Situation (No Spoilers)

Multiple reports have seemingly confirmed that there will be two post-credits scenes for Blue Beetle, the standard number for your average superhero movie. A block party was held in Austin, Texas to celebrate the film with director Angel Manuel Soto. Twitter user Josh Herrera and a report from Max Blizz have confirmed the news about DC’s first live-action Latino superhero.

No details were mentioned as the film has not yet been released, but some hints pique our interest. When the credits roll, one or both of the extra scenes will hint at “something bigger.” As DC co-CEO James Gunn confirmed, this is the first new DCU character, so we will see Xolo Maridueรฑa alongside any new castmembers, like David Corenswet’s Superman and Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane in Superman: Legacy, the first new DCU movie. It is confusing that the first DCU character is not in the first DCU movie, creating more confusing canon for DC. Still, we already knew this would be an important viewing for the future, and it sounds like it could be more significant with possible connections or foreshadowing in the post-credits.

We can make an educated guess on what the Blue Beetle post-credits scene holds for us. DC is developing a show on Max centered on Booster Gold. The two characters have a long history together as friends in the comics. It would make sense to hint at a show of an ally of the film’s titular character. Since Superman: Legacy will introduce a wave of new characters, Blue Beetle could at least introduce another character during one of its final scenes.

Blue Beetle being the first new DCU character comes during a difficult time for DC. After bombs with Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and The Flash, the film is projected to have a low opening weekend. If it is meant to connect to the next big picture, its box office performance could decide its future. As it releases on August 18, we will soon see how it paints a bigger picture connecting to Gunn’s DCU, which officially starts in 2025 when Superman: Legacy releases.
