Is Reaper really being removed from Overwatch 2 with the new season? Rumors that the fan-favorite Reaper, which has been around since the release of Overwatch 1, will be removed from the roster have alarmed players. One of the most popular Damage heroes, Reaper is a top pick for melting Tanks. We see Reaper in most matches, as he contributes to so many positions and combos in the game. Let’s discuss if Reaper is really getting removed from Overwatch 2.

Thankfully, Reaper is not being removed from the hero roster in the new Overwatch 2 season: Invasion. This rumor has caused quite a stir, yet it all comes from a user’s TikTok video. A user called “@knockknockow” has posted a clip talking about Overwatch 2 removing Reaper from the game. This video went viral, and many players were devastated that Reaper would be removed from the game. The article in the video is from a fake forum post, and there is no official statement from Blizzard regarding the removal of Reaper. This is apparently just a prank.

Overwatch 2 has never permanently removed any hero from the game. Some heroes, such as Mei, Bastion, and Torbjörn, were temporarily disabled for a few days due to some in-game bugs before. However, they returned to the game as soon as the problems with these heroes were resolved. There hasn’t been a character permanently removed from the Overwatch roster in its more than seven-year history, meaning you don’t need to worry about your favorite hero may be removed in the future.

Some heroes get reworked for further developments or balancing. Brigitte recently received a huge update to bring her back in the game, and we know Sombra will be reworked next season as well. Many heroes have been reworked in Overwatch’s history, although some players are not happy with it. However, just because a hero will be reworked doesn’t mean they’re going anywhere.

As Overwatch is a game that changes every season with new mechanics, players are convinced that Reaper may be removed from the game. The thing is, we’ve seen over the past years that they can do this without disabling the hero. So even if the future rework for Reaper is on the way, you will still be able to continue playing him in the game. So, the removal of Reaper from Overwatch 2 is out of the question.
