Did you know that there is a company which is currently still producing VCR’s?ย Neither did we.ย But as the title of this piece states, that is about to conclude, bringing the era of VHS, definitively, to its final end.
The first VCR’s to be introduced to the public was the Victor HR-3300 by JVC which hit the market all the way back in 1976.ย Funai Electric Company has kept the fight going, though, and now after 33 long years, they have decided that the time has finally come to cease production on their line of VCR’s.ย The company was known for selling their systems in North America and China under the Sanyo brand.
This truly does appear to be the end for the format, as it is being widely reported that Funai Electric Company was the last known producer of VCR’s in the entire world.
