Next, we’re going to talk about preparing for probably the most important battle in the game. At the end of Act 3, you’ll have to recruit everyone who’s ready to stand by your side to fight your enemies, so we’ll show you how to complete the Gather Your Allies quest in Baldur’s Gate 3. Depending on the actions and decisions you made, those who support your idea or someone you rescued may come to your aid. Below, we’ll tell you more about each ally and the benefits you’ll receive during the battle.

You won’t be able to recruit all the available NPCs into your team, as it depends on the decisions you’ve made up to this critical juncture. Regardless, you will still be able to gain followers who are ready to join you and fight evil. So, let’s take a look at the allies who will be ready to support you, what actions you need to take, and what advantages they provide in battle.

Allies How to recruit Benefits in combat
Yurgir
  • Do not kill him in Act 2 as Astarion.
  • In Act 3, before the fight with Raphael, convince Yurgir to join your side.
You can summon Yurgir
Barcus Wroot and Wulbren
  • Rescue Barcus in Acts 1 and 2.
  • Invite Barcus to your camp.
  • Rescue Wulbren and the Tieflings from the prison in Moonrise Towers.
  • Make a peace pact between Wulbren and the Gondians with the help of Barcus.
You can summon them
Volo
  • During Act 1, rescue Volo from the goblin camp.
  • During Act 3, rescue Volo from the mob.
You gain +2 to saving throws, attack rolls, and ability checks during combat
Battle-Ready Owlbear
  • Kill the mother Owlbear, but spare the cub.
  • Rescue the cub from the goblin camp.
  • Take care of the cub for 3 nights after rescuing it.
You can summon Owlbear
Viconia DeVir
  • In Act 2, take the Nightsong side.
  • In Act 3, bring Shadowheart to the House of Grief and give her to the Disciples of Shar.
You can summon Forces
Bhaal’s Slayer
  • Kill Orin the Red
  • Accept your destiny as Bhaal’s Chosen
You can summon Bhaal
Vampire Ascendant Astarion
  • In Act 3, make Astarion a full vampire.
  • Unlock the Vampire Ascendant powers versus Cazador.
You will be able to use Astarion Powers during Final Battle
Duke Ravengard
  • Rescue Duke Ravengard from the Iron Throne prison
  • Complete Wyll’s side quests
You gain temporary health points during combat.
Ulma and the Gur
  • In Act 3, prevent Astarion from becoming a full vampire.
  • Rescue the captive to prevent a fight between you and Ulma’s group.
You can summon Gur
Florrick
  • Make sure that Florick lives into Act 3.
  • In Act 3, rescue Florick from the Wyrm Rock Fortress.
You can summon Flaming Fist
Shadowheart
  • In Act 2, kill Nightsong.
  • In Act 3, make sure that Shadowheart takes over the leadership of the House of Grief and becomes a powerful asset.
You can summon Forces
Halsin
  • In Act 1, save the Druid Grove.
  • In Act 2, help Halsin with completing Lift the Shadow Curse.
You gain +2 meters to movement speed and +1 to all ability stats
Rolan
  • Rescue the Tieflings from Moonrise Towers and send Rolan to the Last Light Inn.
  • In Act 3, join Nightsong against Lorroakan
You can summon Rolan
Inspector Valeria and The Watch
  • Defend and save Inspector Valeria from the Bhaal Worshippers.
You can summon the Great Weapon
Orpheus
  • Visit the House of Hope and steal the Orphic Hammer.
  • Rescue Orpehus.
All allies that are close to Prince Orhepus gain +3 to Intelligence, Charisma, and Wisdom saving throws, as well as resistance to Psychic Damage
Isobel
  • In Act 2, do not kill Nightsong.
  • In Act 3, do not side with Lorroakan.
Provides health regeneration to allies
Nightsong
  • In Act 2, do not kill Nightsong.
  • In Act 3, team up with her against Lorroakan.
You can summon Nightsong
Jaheria’s Harpers
  • In Act 2, recruit Jaheria.
  • In Act 3, complete the High Harper quest.
You can summon Harper
Mizora
  • In Act 2, rescue Mizora when you are in Mind Flayer.
You can summon Magic Attack
Lorroakan
  • In Act 2, do not kill the Nightsong.
  • In Act 3, side with Lorroakan.
You can summon Elemental
