Indie Title 'Inside' Has a PS4 Release Date

Inside is the second game for indie developers, Playdead. Their first one was the hugely popular title and instant cult favorite, Limbo. It was released six years ago in July 2010 and garnered high praise. The game came out exclusively on Xbox Live Arcade, and it also earned an impressive Metacritic score of eighty-eight, before finally moving to PlayStation 3 and PC a year later.

Inside also enjoyed its exclusive run on Xbox One and PC. The game was released on June 29, 2016 and it, too, racked up great reviews and quickly became an indie favorite. In The Nerd Stash’s review, our very own Adam Dyche gave Inside 5 out of 5 stars, citing the game’s flawless presentation, ambiance, and compelling world as several positive aspects. PS4 gamers will finally have a chance to experience this ‘compelling world’ of Inside on August 23, 2016, just a few short weeks away. A price has not been announced yet, but hopefully we can expect it to release at $19.99, the same price on Xbox One and PC. This end of August date was revealed in a new trailer for the PS4 version of the game. You can watch it below.

Early on Monday, a full trophy list for the PS4 version of Inside popped up on the popular trophy site Exophase, which potentially spoiled Playdead’s release-date announcement a couple of days early. Exophase is no stranger to leaking release dates for upcoming titles. Just in the last couple of months, there have been trophy lists for Dead Rising 4 on PS4 and for The Witcher 3 Game of the Year Edition.

Although Inside shares a lot of visual and tonal similarities with Limbo, the games’ content is not related in any sense and it is not a sequel. In Inside you play as a nameless boy and move/run through a monochromatic landscape, avoiding death in 3D side scrolling fashion. You solve environmental puzzles along the way, doing so with a mind-control device as puzzles become increasingly difficult. It all culminates in an ending that is both worthwhile and memorable.
