“You are not authorized to pilot this ship” is a phrase many of us have come across in Starfield. There are few things as disappointing as conquering a fleet of space pirates, only to be met with the realization that your character is not qualified to steal their ship. Luckily, there is an easy solution for this issue, and it doesn’t take much time at all. Here is a comprehensive guide on how to level up the piloting skill fast in Starfield.

The Quickest Way To Level Up Piloting Skill

As you have probably discerned from the skill tree, Starfield’s piloting skill upgrades whenever you defeat an enemy in space combat. This is straightforward but tends to be rather tedious and can take a long time. Fortunately, we have found an easy solution to expedite this process!

Leveling up your piloting skill requires signing up with the UC Vanguard. The faction headquarters are found in the MAST district of New Atlantis. Head inside and speak with Commander Tuala, the man behind the counter to your left. Shortly thereafter, he will prompt you to head down the elevator to the orientation hall and sign up using their enrollment kiosk.

After signing up, make your way down the orientation hall. The short walk will take you directly into the simulation room, where you can begin leveling up your piloting skill. Entering either of the simulation chambers will begin a series of space combat encounters, each of which counts as the real deal. This means that every kill in the simulation is equivalent to an actual one and counts towards your piloting skill. Furthermore, any ship skills will benefit from the training such as Targeting Control and Shield Systems.

Lastly, keep in mind that you can return to the simulation at any time, so be sure to utilize it. A lack of any actual consequences and plenty of enemies, make simulation training far more efficient than actual combat.  Undoubtedly, with a little bit of dedication, you’ll be able to fly those Class C spaceships in no time.
