Story aside, crafting and building are the core mechanics in Starfield, so you will need a lot of different materials to progress through the story. Everything from building ships and outposts to creating new equipment and weapons will require unique ingredients, and Lubricant is one of them. We probably will not surprise you by saying that you can buy this material from some vendors in big cities, but this is far from the only way. So we are here to help you and tell you about all the ways to get Lubricant in Starfield.

Starfield: All Ways To Get Lubricant

First of all, it is worth noting that you can get Lubricant in Starfield in three ways:

  • Firstly, you can buy this material by visiting merchants in big cities.
  • You can also get this material from flora on different planets.
  • Lastly, you can get Lubricant as a random drop.

If you just started playing, buying Lubricant is the best decision. You can purchase this material in the Resources tab for 17 Credits apiece from many NPC sellers. If you’re new to the game, you might want to visit the Tseng NPC on the planet Jemison in the Alpha Centauri System. Go to the UC Distribution Center opposite Outland and buy the desired product for 17 Credits. If you need more, you can sit down on the nearest chair and wait 24-48 hours before the NPC updates its inventory, and you can buy more. Additionally, this is not the only planet where you can buy Lubricant, so you can go to the following locations if you are close to them:

  • Cydonia – Mars (Sol System)
  • Trade Authority – Neon (Volii Alpha planet in Volii Alpha System)
  • Trade Authority – Akila City (Akila planet in the Cheyenne System)

If you don’t want to spend Credits, you can find Lubricant in the wild on different planets. You only need to scan different plants. Just as Sweetwater Cacti can produce Adhesive Roots, other plants can produce Lubricant. To extract Lubricants from plants, you must use a scanner and analyze them at least 25%.

Lastly, you can always get some Lubricant without trying to do it. You can find some Lubricant by exploring abandoned locations on planets, examining the corpses of defeated enemies, and even attacking other people’s ships. It’s also a relatively common material, so you’ll get it often.
